The Bridge and Pothole Crowd

According to the Associated Press, Pres. Bush had this to say at today's White House celebration of the National Day of Prayer:
"In my travels across the great land, a comment that I hear often from our fellow citizens is, `Mr. President, I pray for you and your family.' It's amazing how many times a total stranger walks up and says that to me," Bush said. "You'd think they'd say, `How about the bridge?' Or, `How about filling the potholes?'"
Um... how about the bridge? How about filling the potholes? Wow. I gotta say, you have to kind of love moments like this when the president lets you look straight inside his skull and you are seized by the sudden, unshakeable certainty that the man doesn't have the faintest farking clue what he's doing. And of course, when I say "You have to kind of love moments like this", what I really mean is "You kind of want to soil your pants".

He's been watching too many 1940s light comedies, where politicians are beseiged by colorful townies wanting small personal favors. Little girls asking El Presidente to please not cut down the cherry tree in the park like Mean Mr. McGrumperson threatened.

The role of Mean Mr. McGrumperson will be played by Dick Cheney.
